Reading Grade Level

Ok, I just have to share a proud moment. We have been working on getting Morgan ready for her very first SAT test in a couple of weeks. One of the things we have been preparing for is reading comprehension. The material I am using has you time them for 3 minutes. They read the story and answer the questions. The number of questions they get correct correlates to their reading level. We have done about 10-15 of these and she is consistently reading at an average of 6th grade (she is in 3rd)! I am so proud!
Don't worry, I'm not one of those parents who thinks my kid is smarter than every other kid in the world. This is just one of those moments that reassures me in my abilities to teach my children.

Um, I DO think that Morgan is probably smarter than most kids! That's just one of the ways God's blessed her! Just like Avery and her art ability and creativity and Sid and her people skills (extreme!) and Jordan and is lazyness skills! J/K Jordan is also sweet spirited and just may actually be the baseball player his daddy has dreamed of for YEARS!!

Love you!
Bran

Good for you! I think that what would always linger above my head if I homeschooled....am I doing it good enough. It is actually nice to have something to reassure you.

You are doing an awesome job! Sounds like your hardwork is with it!

That is so great! Do you mind if I ask... What SAT is she taking in 3rd? We are going to do a standardized test through our homeschool group for the first time this year with my third grader and I was just wondering what you used. Also, where did you get the materials for testing reading level and what is it called? My son is pretty high here too and I would love to see where he is.

Thanks,
Michele

Tasha,

I was wondering if you were ever going to leave a comment. Glad to see it. I miss seeing you too. No one else is quite so friendly there.
Have you checked out that dollar theater yet?
I think it's great that you are homeschooling! It's not easy, but so worth it.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
