Today at lunch, this is the conversation I had with my middle child, Avery:
Avery: "Mom, the Bible says to love your enemies as yourself, right?"
Me: "Yes, that's right."
Avery: "Well, Satan is our enemy. Are we supposed to love him?"
Me: "Well, the Bible is really talking about people on Earth who are unkind to us and hurtful. It is easy to love the people who are nice to us and love us. It is much more difficult to love the people who persecute us."
I just love the way she put 2 and 2 together. She does a lot of this deep thinking. I'm glad she still comes to me with her questions. She is also my child that likes to have classical music playing in the background while she plays in her room. I just love her!

Sounds like you have a very smart and sweet daughter. :o)
That , ladies and gentlemen, is how we HS'ers know that we are doing the right thing! Press on, Sister!

Wow, your are lucky to have an open relasionship like that. Most parents shoe away questions like that. Keep it up, and your child will be well off.
So we're not supposed to also love Satan? ;)
Kids always come up with those tricky questions, eh? That's why I enjoy teaching them!
Mr. V,
I love the things kids come up with, too. No, we don't love Satan. He is the epitome of all that is evil. He is the one that tries his best to lead us astray. He is the one thing my kids are allowed to tell what to do and where to go.
