Planting a Garden

Being frugal is about to take on a whole new meaning. We are going to start a community garden. This Saturday, the families participating are going to sit down and decide what we want to plant and make a plan. I am looking forward to this for several reasons. The most important one to me is the economic aspect. Fruits and veggies are the most expensive thing to buy from the grocery store. So, now I am going to grow the fruits and veggies that we like and are the most expensive to buy. This should be a great help to our budget and we will have more of those items than we normally can afford.
This will also work well right now while Cory is not working and school is coming to a close. I will keep you updated on what we decide and how it all comes together.

Praying for Cory's job search. The garden sounds like a great idea...the price of fruits and veggies just keeps getting worse and worse!

you are smart to do this. I wish I had a home (we live in a apartment) I would love to grow my own fruits and veggies! Look at all the Pros

1. They are fresh
2. it's free besides the $1.50 cost for the seeds.
3. It teaches value.

you are one lucky lady:)

I will pray that you hubby finds a job soon.

The community garden sounds like the perfect solution. A private garden these days seems like so much of an undertaking that it would end up taking focus from other areas of life that need our time. A community garden has mulitple benefits time and split on the food what a grand idea.
Cory will find work even if it comes in a diffrent field. I just know it will come to you both. In the meantime look for a boarder or two to bridg the gap. We all need to start doing this as many need a roof and other's need the extra bit of income. I know from past I would have greatly have taken a floor and a blanket on many a night instead of the streets.

I wish I lived closer...I am planning on doing the same thing, but sort of have cold feet as I have never done this before. I'd love to get in on the planning talks so I can figure out what to do and when! I am excited if I can figure it out!! Christie

I think it is a good idea, for the exercise, the food, and for community spirit
