I Don't Like Change

It's true.  I am a scheduled, stay on course kind of girl.  My husband couldn't be more the opposite. He is a spontaneous, laid back guy (just the things I loved the most about him when we were dating).
Maybe I should explain this a little better.  I don't mind change that comes at me weeks, days or even hours in advance.  What I cannot stand is change that is thrown at me at the last minute.  I know there are other people like me in this area.  But, somehow, I seem to be the most affected in my circle of friends/family.
I don't even like small things changing at the last minute.  It could be what we are having for lunch, the plans for the day or even a last minute decision for my kid to play at someone else's house.  It all makes me batty.
My brain really needs a good 30 minutes to process the change and then develop a new plan of action.  I have never been a fly by the seat of my pants kind of person.  That became even more evident when we had kids.  Once I had 4 kids in 5 years, I didn't know how to survive without a schedule.  I can be a LOT more flexible now that they are older, but I still just want to know what the PLAN is!
There are a couple times that this schedule nazi side of me can fade away.  It usually involves being away from home and having no children.  If I only have to worry about myself and my husband, plans to seem to be much easier to adjust.  I think this is probably one of the biggest things Cory is looking forward to on our cruise in a couple weeks.  There is not a scheduled bone in his body and I think he is going to love having a wife that will just relax and chill for 5 whole days!!
Now, if we can just get all these hurricanes out of the way before we head to the Bahamas, that would be great.

When we got married, we went on a 7 day cruise and there was a hurricane in the Gulf....it rained the whole time! If that happens, I'm sure there are things in your room you could do that would remind you of your first honeymoon :)

I am like that too! Drives Jack up the wall. He is totally fly by the seat of your pants and I am very scheduled! It drives me crazy when we drive on trips he wants to stop wherever for the night. I need a plan , dude! A reservation would be good!

Stacy is you, and I am your husband!
We did the "cruise thing " and had a ball!
You HAVE to relax. You are on a boat in the middle of No-Where!
There is nothing else to do but relax! :)
One of the best thing we ever did.

I hope you have a great time(even if it does rain).

Take lots of pictures!

So, I was thinking...what would you think about Sydney doing school with us on M,W,Th at about 1:00 - 4:00? Tuesdays are just not working out. Oh, and why don't you throw Jordan and Murphy in the mix. Also, forgot to mention that Morgan and Avery would babysit Allison for me since she won't be sleeping all of those hours. Do you like to clean floors? Cause this is so needed at my house and you won't have any kids during that time! Just make sure you have enough time to get dinner ready for the rest of us. I like to eat around 5:30.

How's that?

Love ya!!! Miss you! Hopefully Hannah will go north and we can come home Tuesday as planned :) You know, I hate change!

I wish I were a little more like you... I NEED to be a little more like you, lol.

I've been praying for all of you in the South - those hurricanes sure are scary!

Hi I just found you through moneysavingmom. I love your headline. My husband and I were both products of the public schools who have chosen to give our kids something better in our opinion through homeschooling. I am going to use your Publix savings as inspiration to stretch our few dollars! Thank you.

Will you continue to homeschool your children through middle and high school?

I'm the exact same way! And my boyfriend is like your husband. One of the few "fights" we had was because we didn't have a plan on a weekend trip and I was going crazy! LOL!

Allison,

Right now, my plan is to continue homeschooling all the way through highschool. That may change as they get older, but right now that is the plan.

Just wanted to say that you are NOT alone! I h/s four kids, too, about the same ages (1,3,5,7), and I am so scheduled that I fix my coffee cup (cream/sugar) the night before so that it's "ready" for the fresh coffee! I even hate taking a day off for Labor Day because it threatens my school scheduling (5 lessons a week in some books--can't get off course lest we disrupt our other days!). I do have some flexibility as long as I'M the one doing the flexing and in control of the details, haha! I'm trying to allow God to use my schedule and organizational tendencies for His good in my children's lives, though.
