I Could SO Have 9 Kids!

Today, I spent the good part of the day in charge of 9 children. I had my 4, plus my 2 nieces and 3 of my friend's kids. Now, this is not particularly out of the norm when the moms are all there. This time though, I was flying solo.
So, lets see, the ages were 8,7,6,5,4,4,3,2,1. Does that sound like fun? Oh, you betcha! Luckily, I have parents that live around the corner and they have a pool. What else can entertain that many kids for a day? Nothing that I know of. So, we spent the day at my parents and everyone had a blast.
The funny thing is, it really wasn't all that hard. If they were all under 3, that might be a different story. But they played well together and they all obeyed very well.
Maybe it was a fluke or maybe they really do get easier as they get older (aside from the teen years, of course).

hey! i've been away from visiting blogs for awhile and now i'm back! anyway, it's wierd becasue i started thinking about you tonight...don't worry, i don't normally do that...didn't want you to think i was obsessed or something.

ANYWAY, what popped into my head was how "ironic" it was that you were surrounded by friends that have adopted (i honestly only have 1 close friend that has)..and then you meet me who "coincidentally" happens to be adopting....so my thought was, "I wonder if GOd is trying to tell you anything?"

Don't worry...I didn't hear this directly from God, but it did make me wonder;)

Well, I'm glad you didn't hear directly from God.
Actually, we have neither one felt a calling in that direction.
I have seriously considered being a foster parent one day when my kids are older. I don't know, I may have a hard time giving them back.
I am around lots of families who have adopted. I have about 7 friends who have or are in the process of adopting. I also have 4 cousins who were adopted from overseas.
Who knows what the Lord has for us one day. I didn't really plan on 4 kids in 4 years. So, I try not to depend on "my plans" too much.

holy cow! that is ALOT of adoption influence.

please know that i am just joking with you...i'm not trying to convict you...and you are right...you will know if you are being called. the great thing with adoption is that there isn't a ticking time clock like biological kiddos.

Billie,

I know you are kidding. I like to be sarcastic right back. I'm sure we would be good friends if you lived closer.
When God calls us to adopt, you will be one of the first to know :)

I find that when I have to mind other peoples children it goes well if I just hand the day over to minding them and not do any of the normal things like schooling and cleaning etc... too stressful.
