The Trampoline and Back Handsprings!

The next door neighbors of my in-laws have a trampoline and offered for us to use it for the weekend. THANK YOU, MANDY!! Well, you just can't pass up an offer like that. The kids have all loved jumping to the hearts content. But, Avery has enjoyed this treat the most. She has learned how to do her back handspring all by herself! She has been working on this with her Aunt Jaime for a while now and was just missing the confidence to do it on her own. Look at what she can do now. She still needs a little perfecting, but she is so giddy that she did it on her own.

The rest of the kids have had a great time just jumping around and trying to do flips.

I love reading your blog & I was wondering how the dentist appt. went for your child with the cavity.

Go Avery! Looks like everyone had a great time. Last year for Christmas we bought our kids an enclosed trampoline. My dh and I agree that it is the single best group gift we've ever gotten them. They are entertained for hours each week plus it is good exercise. Have fun!

Yay Avery!!!!! Now...get those legs together, straighten those legs, and point those toes! Just kidding. It's hard to take the coaching out.

So proud of you!!!

your kids are very lucky that YOU let them jump. my hubby nurse absolutely hates those things. he also knew someone that was paralyzed in high school on one. nice...now he has me freaked out too!

we do allow our kids to jump on our neighbors because it has one of those net things around it...but they are not allowed to flip...hopefully that will save their neck;)

but of course, we allow our kids to ride around with out helmuts, so it all equals out;)

My kids have a blast on our trampoline also. It's a really fun way of exercising. :o)

As the wife of a chiropractor, I have to warn you of the 'hidden' dangers of trampoline use. The constant jumping isn't good for the spinal column. He has even had parents bring their kids in for adjustments and they say 'he/she started wetting the bed at night' (these are older kids that have never had a problem) - in every case, they have recently purchased a trampoline.

Just a thought - but I have to say, I did enjoy jumping on them when I was a kid.

Blessings -
Camille

PS: Just plan on going to see Dr. John when you get home. . enjoy the jumping for now since you don't have one at home!

Billie and Camille,

Thanks for the concern. I'll put your mind at ease a little. The good side is that we have a chiropractor we regularly see as a family already. The other positive is that we don't have access to a trampoline where we live. They only get to do this the 2-3 times a year when we go to Georgia. Also, they are only allowed on if my husband or I are on as well.
I do get more nervous with a trampoline that does not have a net around it.

Deb,

Thanks for reminding me. I thought I had already written a post about how that went. I will write one today.

I cant believe I have been so long since I checked out your blog!

When I was in Mississippi 6 years ago trampolines were so popular but hadn't made it to Ireland on any grand scale. Now they are all over the place!

The old tree is lovely isn't it?
