Free Breakfast at Denny's

For those of who didn't hear about the free Grand Slam breakfast at every Denny's in America for every person in America, you missed out. On Tuesday, Denny's was doing this promotion from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There were no stipulations and you didn't even have to order a drink.

We knew the lines would be long but we didn't realize how cold it would be waiting outside. So, here is the crazy part... My sister-in-law, my husband and I went together with a total of 9 kids! I was watching my friend's 3 kids for the day, plus my 4 and Jaime's 2. So, we had a 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 4, 2, and 2 year old plus a 6 month old baby.
Even though the line was wrapped around the building, we only had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Unfortunately, that entire 30 minutes was outside in the cold and wind. We made it through and sat our 12-top party down and ordered 11 FREE Grand Slams. The kids loved it and we loved seeing the check at the end.

Did anyone else brave the crowds and the cold for some free food? It just goes to show how cheap I really am :)

I am NOT surprised that you went, just surprised at the turnout! I am also surprised they didn't run out of food!! Our Denny's was crazy busy!! That is the first time in oh, forever they have had more than a couple people eating there at any given time! :o)

I was on my bike ride that morning and saw the line wrapped around the building, so I figured saving $3 on a meal was NOT worth the wait with a not yet 2 year old. Glad you had fun!

Marty went with people from work for lunch but they didn't want to wait. Denny's gave them rain checks though! So they still get free food, just no wait.

I went with my mom and dad in Deland but didn't go in because of the long line. There was about 30 people wrapped around the outside and my mom would never have stood outside that long, especially in the cold. So we went to Grams Kitchen and paid for our breakfast :-) I had the best pecan pancakes!!

I took one peek in the building, and when I saw the wall-to-wall bodies packed inside I turned around and walked out.

I was working that day ( at IHOP ). I expected to be slow because I figured everyone would go to Denny's. Well, a lot of people saw the line and came to IHOP instead. We were soo... busy!
And of course I had quite a few people come in, sit down, and try to order a free grand slam.... and they were serious.

.............and IHOP is doing Free pancakes on the 24th. It's a free stack of 3 pancakes for each customer. Only we do it for charity - so everyone is asked to give a donation for the childrens miracle network.
